Design and Development of an Arduino-Based automated School Bell System

Abstract

This study focused on the design, development, and evaluation of an Arduino-based automated school bell system intended to improve time management and operational efficiency at Lala National High School in Lanao del Norte. A developmental research design using a project-based system development approach was employed. The system integrated an Arduino UNO microcontroller, Real-Time Clock (RTC) module, relay module, LCD display, and programmed scheduling mechanism to automate bell operations. The developed system was evaluated by school administrators, teachers, and technical staff in terms of functionality, accuracy, usability, reliability, and user satisfaction. Results demonstrated positive evaluations across all assessment criteria, reflecting stable system performance under actual school conditions. The findings highlight the potential of low-cost embedded technologies to enhance school automation, improve scheduling efficiency, and reduce manual workload. The study also demonstrates the adaptability and scalability of Arduino-based systems as practical solutions for resource-constrained educational institutions seeking affordable operational technologies.
